ABOUT THE BLUE OF SKY

The Blue of the Sky, weather update:

The Blue of the Sky is a romantic thriller that tells a story of a young middle class guy, who by a twist of fate gets involved in a series of events, which compromise and challenge not only his morals and beliefs, but the love of his life too. The Blue of the Sky takes the audience through a plot full of intriguing events and suspense that catches the viewer's attention from beginning to end.
The Blue of the Sky was completely filmed in Medellin, Colombia and was produced by a team of 80% of women. In terms of photography, sound and music, The Blue of the Sky confirms that Colombian filmmaking has reached a new level of production. This production is ready to attract the most demanding international markets.
Additionally, Medellin is presented as a great urban metropolis, with a progressive and innovative architecture, showing the positive transformation of a city that is constantly reinventing itself, trying to leave behind a past tainted by drug trafficking and its consequences.
We have an amazing cast with vast experience in Colombian and international films, theatre and television: Jhon Alex Toro (Maria Full of Grace, HBO Films) NoëlleSchönwald (Al Final del Espectro), Ana Maria Sanchez (Paraíso Travel) and Aldemar Correa, our main character, known for his starring role in "Paraíso Travel", the winning film at the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival for the Best Film and Audience Award in 2008. Aldemar was also the winner of the Best Actor award in the Puerto Vallarta Film Festival in 2007.
In the constant search for a new talent, The Blue of the Sky presents Maria Gaviria, who makes her cinematic debut alongside Aldemar. On top of this diverse group of talented actors, we have to mention the Spanish actress Ruth Gabriel winner of a Goya Award in 1995 for the Best New Actress for her role in the Spanish film "DíasContados" (1994).
The last important character to be mentioned is Medellin itself. The city opens a way for the love story that takes place in The Blue of the Sky. This story, local in origin, contains all the universal elements to become a global and an attractive product able to conquer the demanding international film markets.
The plot can be adapted for any large urban city in the world. Although there is a local feeling through the characters and visuals, its narrative avoids the stereotyped depiction of violence often mirrored by the recent events in our country.
The Blue of the Sky also attracted the attention of international professionals who took part in the post-production process, they are: Peter Golub and Nathan Smith; the first one, composer of several films and documentaries, among them is the work he did with James Newton Howard in "The Great Debaters" 2007, directed by Denzel Washington, and the second, as one of the industry-leaders in sound design for film and television, who was a part of the team of the famous television series "Spartacus" (2010).
The Blue of the Sky, has a very eclectic soundtrack, ranging from classical to jazz and hip-hop music, which provided the opportunity to record with young unknown Colombian musicians who provided the incidental music for the film, such bands as La Toma, Tierradentro, musicians as Andrés Martínez, the composer Richard Córdoba and the Dutch trumpeter based in Colombia, MaiteHontelé.
